Etieno’s story
Keeping a dream in school.
At just 13 years old, Etieno is a JSS 2 student with a simple dream: to stay in school, keep learning and build a future for herself.

Why support mattered
A determined student. A family under pressure.
Her parents work hard as traders, doing their best to provide for their family. But as the cost of living continues to rise and economic pressures affect families across the Niger Delta, keeping up with school fees became increasingly difficult.
Etieno was at risk of falling behind, not because she lacked the ability or desire to learn, but because her family was struggling to meet the cost of keeping her in school.
Sometimes, keeping a dream alive begins with keeping a child in school.
What changed
Her place in the classroom was secured.
Ukabino Foundation stepped in and covered her school fees for two academic sessions, helping Etieno remain in the classroom and continue her education.
For Etieno, it meant more than settling a school bill. It meant being able to sit with her classmates, continue learning and keep moving towards the future she imagines for herself.
Her gratitude was heartfelt. Her joy reminded us how practical support can protect a young person’s opportunity to learn.
